We represent the school and make good changes and decisions to:
- Save the environment
- Improve the school
- Make our school look better
We also:
- Cherish everybody’s ideas and this is reflected in the work we do
- Set good examples and make everyone feel safe and happy
The main aim of the School Parliament is to help to make our school a better place and to give an opportunity to have our ideas and opinions heard.
We raise money for charities including Children in Need, Sports Relief, Cancer Research and Comic Relief.
The children are very important at our school and we value their ideas and opinions. We want to give them opportunities to share their thoughts on school issues.
Every September each class votes for School Parliament, Nourish, Flourish and Eco Warriors to be representatives of the school. These are children who put themselves forward and may be required to present to the class why they would make a good school parliament member.
The school parliament members give up a lunch time every two weeks to meet and discuss school issues and events. Everyone has a say in these meetings so that no one is left out. They then report back to the whole school during Collective Worship.
Children will often propose fund-raising activities and work with the staff and FONES to organise these events; children’s team points and awards are organised; and any school issues or niggles may result in the school parliament finding a solution or creating a new rule.
Our School Parliament had a very busy week last week! We met to discuss the building work and discuss options for a name for the new mezzanine area. We also went over our plans we had made previously about how to improve the front of our school. We then met with our School Governors and members of our community to share and finalise our ideas!
Today at North Elmham, we celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubliee. We made crowns, bunting and decorated our own scrumptious cupcakes! Some children completed art work inspired by the Queen! We then had a lovely picnic altogether outside. Well done to School Parliament for organising the event and a BIG thank you to FONES who donated the cupcakes and cupcake decorations for all of the children!
This week, School Parliament held their meeting in the beautiful sunshine! We discussed our plans for the Jubilee celebrations in school. More information will be shared soon. Watch this space!
Today, we met to discuss future fundraising events we would like to organise by the end of the academic year. We have started to organise Red Nose Day for March, including a competition for the whole school! We also started to design some safety posters as we have a very exciting building project starting during half term!
This week, School Parliament met to discuss after school clubs and the organisation of them. We also discussed ways to improve our school grounds, including the front of the school and the apparatus the children use on the field.
School Parliament have had an excellent first day collecting donations to raise money for the Royal British Legion, supporting this years Poppy Appeal.
Another fantastic meeting held today. School Parliament finalised plans for Children in Need, they discussed how to organise donations for the Poppy Appeal and also talked about lunch time activities.
