Today, Dove class became archaeologists! They carefully excavated shards of pottery, used a rim sheet to calculate the pot’s diameter, drew analytical drawings and cross sections, and then attempted a delicate reconstruction. Many of them said they wanted to go home and excavate in their gardens..apologies for any damage they cause!
Doves Class
Dove class trip to Sheringham Park
We had a lovely day at Sheringham Park on 14th February. Children learnt all about Stone Age survival skills, including shelter building and making fire! The weather was amazing and the class had great fun working with children from Stibbard school.
E-Safety workshop
Simon from Gripping Yarns came to talk to Years 2-6 about online safety, gaming and social media.
Dove Class Multiplication Workshop
Thank you to all the parents/carers that came along to our maths workshop! We had a great time learning new ways to practise our times tables and we hope you’ll be having some multiplication fun at home! Don’t forget to give ‘Hit the Button’ a go at home; the children love it!
Cave Art
Dove class have been getting to grips this week with the techniques and materials early man used to create cave paintings. They began by experimenting with drawing in semi-darkness and upside down under their desks. We then collected twigs and used them, along with fingers and feathers, to draw their own pictures with mud, berry juice, charcoal and chalk. We think they’ve turned out really well!
Well done KS2 Talent Show contestants (click image for more photos)
Well done to all who took part. We could see the children had rehearsed so much – and what amazing talent they had! A special mention to Emma (1st place – ribbon dancing), Mason (2nd place – beatboxing) and Bethany, Brooke and Natalie (3rd place – dancing).
Wartime DT
Doves have been learning all about wartime rationing and how people used strange ingredients in their foods in an effort to ‘make do’. Today we had lots of fun making carrot biscuits and taste-testing them to see if the carrot was a good sugar substitute (the recipe only used a very small amount of sugar). The biscuits proved pretty popular, so much so that the children asked if they could have the recipe to make them at home (see below!)
Dove class trip after half-term

Dove class transition
The year 2s spent a couple of days in Dove class with their new classmates and we investigated the topic of endangered species. Children worked in teams to produce PowerPoints and collages of their animal, and then we voted on which animal we will sponsor with the WWF. The winner was the polar bear!
